to the Homeless.
The Commission on Homelessness is made up of homeless service providers, community advocates, and city and county leaders working to alleviate and ultimately end homelessness in Greater Evansville.
Our Recent Work
5-Year Strategic Plan
In March, the Commission on Homelessness approved a 5-year strategic plan to alleviate homelessness in Vanderburgh County. It’s being implemented now.
Joint Crisis Team
We formalized an initiative called E3 (Educate, Encourage, Enforce), an effort that brings a personalized approach to supporting high risk homeless individuals in our community. It allows us to provide a quicker response to individuals in crisis situations.
Free Food List
We published a comprehensive list of food pantries, hot meals and free little pantries on our website.
Homeless Connect
We held our 17th Homeless Connect on April 3. The annual event provides actual services on-site to anyone in need. Homeless Connect helped nearly 700 individuals this year.
Dignity EVV
We launched Dignity EVV, a fund that gives community members a way to directly support the homeless and off-set costs of Homeless Connect.
Homeless Contact Form
We worked with EPD to implement a homeless contact form to quickly engage homeless services with Aurora when officers identify individuals who need help.
